The last time I checked, one ‘author’ seems to have ‘written’ over 400 books ( AI cough). Above the piles of pedagogic dross, however, a few books stand out, and Shelley Ann Vernon’s ESL CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES is one of them. It is written for teachers who teach classes to teenagers and adults. A brief perusal of the Amazon reviews will tell you that I am not in the minority here. Teachers praise its flexibility, ease of use, and the author’s credibility, who has spent years developing solid ESL resources. This book is certainly one of the most trusted ESL teaching books out there.
👩🏻🏫The book is packed with speaking games, fluency builders, grammar drills, and creative tasks. Many activities require little or no prep, while others come with printable templates to save time. Each activity includes variations, allowing the teacher to easily adapt for beginners, intermediates, or advanced students.
What makes this book stand out for me is how it keeps students engaged. Even shy learners open up during the interactive activities, and teens respond exceptionally well to the game-based approach.
