๐ฉโ๐ซBelow is a recording of a student describing her family using a family photo taken on holiday. Before you listen to the recording, what information do you think she will include?

I think she did a good job, although she could have mentioned her mom’s huge glasses! ๐
๐ฉโ๐ซThe student was taught how to describe their family in detail over the course of a few lessons. Each lesson is scaffolded to transition smoothly into the next, gradually developing the students’ speaking skills. The areas covered in each lesson are :
Family Size and Age – Occupation – Personal Character- Appearance – Hobbies – Bonus information
๐ฉโ๐ซThe aim of the final speaking task is not for the student to memorize or read the description of their family, but to use the family photo as a visual aid to help them recall the next thing they want to say. When the student looks at her mom, for instance, she knows her occupation and character well, and looking at her mom’s face helps her verbalize this.
So the preparation for this speaking task is divided into four digestible mini-lessons. Click on each link for the lesson plan.
Part 1: Family Size and Age
Part 2: Occupation and Character
Part 3: Appearance and Hobbies
Part 4: Describing a family photo task
